Elliot has always felt like an oddball. Of course, that could be because he was the only human in a family of vampires. They adopted him when his living conditions were less than ideal, and he's always been grateful, but that also meant that they were always overprotective. Finally, he gets a chance at freedom when the seer of the family sends him on his way. He doesn't think he'll actually lose all the bodyguards, but one can hope.
