Nollywood has grown by leaps and bounds. It has not only generated academic, cultural, scientific, and economic interests at national and transnational levels but created a global following that has now made it a stakeholder in World Cinema. By 2000, Nollywood had become not only Africa's largest movie industry but at the rate of 2,000 films a year, the second largest in the world, coming only after the Indian cinema.
