Author Biography

Leaving a cold, wet and gloomy Lancashire, on 1 March 1976, he set out from the UK on a journey across Africa not realising that he would eventually work in 34 countries across a span of 45 years. Along the way he picked up a wife and somehow engineered four kids - all boys - as he only has one formula. Always competitive and loving cars, he was involved in karting, rallying, circuit racing and anything with engines and wheels. And when he wasn't racing, he was playing, organising, coaching or refereeing rugby. Eventually, he found himself in the UAE and in possession of a body that did not work too well after breaking his neck in a sporting accident. So, he thought it would be a good idea to write a book about it. But, unlike most authors, he has never lived in Chipping Norton or Surrey, but did once own a time share in a resort, on a tiny island called Boracay, in the Philippines.
