Author Barbara Shafer was inspired to write this book when she saw that her mother's care providers lacked the knowledge needed for Lillian's care.

The book is designed for you, or a loved one, to capture "the essential you," in hopes that, if necessary, someone will look through it to learn what is important to you, your beliefs, what you like, what you dislike, and when you want your morning coffee.
