Moshe had found clear evidence of an ancient Mormon settlement. He had discovered home foundations, farm implements, and even occasional written documents authored by active, faithful Mormons. At some point a village populated by these alternative Christian believers had thrived. Now it was gone. And it had been gone for a very long time.

Demon gossip argued that Mormons had indeed settled there, claiming that only the brave pioneers who had survived in Utah could have made a go of it in Hell.
