Author Biography

Margery Williams (1881-1944) was an English American author. The Velveteen Rabbit, her first American book, remains her most enduring work. William Nicholson (1872-1949) was an English painter, printmaker, and illustrator. While most well-known for his landscapes and portraits, his illustrations for The Velveteen Rabbit are remembered for their suffused warmth, which give its protagonist that ''knowing expression.''
