Post-war Carpetbaggers, Yankee martial law and the Ku Klux Klan make their lives unbearable. As experienced horsemen, the brothers depend on this knowledge to get involved in the cattle business and join cattle drives from Texas to Kansas. Ultimately, their love of family, bonding with former slaves and trust in God's faithfulness, inspires their perilous trek across the vastness of Texas and the Llano Estacado to New Mexico Territory.

Author Biography

The author's family first migrated to New Mexico In the 1880s. He has in the past enjoyed owning registered Black Angus cattle and registered Paint horses while living in the Mimbres Valley of Southern New Mexico. One of his favorite pasttimes was simply admiring natures beauty while standing in his freshly tilled fields as the green grass of spring popped up.
