The Landing Place - Paperback

by Michael John Pole (Author)

Israel, October 1973: Jason, a dashing but cynical British photographer, has been hired to take pictures for the Israeli tourist board. His local guide is Asher, brought up in London but currently alienated from her devout Jewish family. They find themselves travelling in the Golan Heights just at the moment when tanks roll in from Syria, as the Yom Kippur war starts...
Featuring wonderfully vivid evocations of London and Israel in the early 1970s and a large cast of complex characters, Michael John Pole's The Landing Place is set at a pivotal moment in recent history, as the optimism of the late 1960s, already waning, was finally brought to a close by the global energy crisis of the early 1970s. The novel is a thrilling and suspenseful tale of danger, conflict and endurance, which celebrates the power of reconciliation and offers a wide-ranging meditation on faith in its many forms.
