AJ's life seems to be on the uptick. He's enjoying the work and acclimating well to his new career field and maneuvering along the steep learning curve of the position. The only challenge to his is work-life harmony is when his disabled and bigoted manager begins a program of disrespect, passive-aggressive abuse and the engineering his termination. While enduring through the daily harassment, AJ accidentally discovers his bosses program of liquor theft. He also uncovers accounting fraud and embezzlement. With better understanding of how the scheme is being perpetrated and is no longer able to tolerate his mistreatment, he decides to inform the hotel leadership of his findings, only to have the tables have been turned on him.

Throughout this pulp-noir style series, AJ is an atypical everyman. He eccentrically works his way through PTSD, improving his employment status, navigating the dating world, building friendships, animal rescue, vigilante recovery of lost treasures and the development of his investigation skills. AJ didn't set out to be a detective. But in the streets and alleys of Charm City, in the cracks between justice and survival and the peaks and valleys of life he's discovering his calling.
