GAINES BISHOP has traveled the world for decades as a solo woman on a budget. Through visiting 20 countries on five continents, she has developed a good sense of what it takes to travel alone safely. She volunteered in the U.S. Peace Corps in Nicaragua for two years and has lived in 4 countries outside the U.S.
