by Jeff Mixon (Author)

Save our Souls is the tale of an ordinary couple, Lyla and Brian, from Akron and Cleveland, Ohio. This couple and select others are granted special gifts. Because of these gifts, they are declared "unnatural threats to the safety and security of the United States of America" in the year 2021. They are forced into hiding by the Department of Homeland Security.

Author Biography

Though unworthy, God has graciously allowed me to enter into a partnership with him; because I understand that my worth depends wholly upon obedience to His will. Haunted, like most, by glaring character flaws; a friend reminded me often: 'God doesn't pick the qualified. He qualifies the picked.' With no further excuse to avoid the rocky path that God has chosen for me, I began writing this book and engaging in local politics in a manner that I knew might engender a backlash. Serving God seldom occurs without trials and tribulations. A writer, children's advocate, educator, talk radio show host and grassroots politician, Jeff Mixon believes that his specific purpose in life is outlined in the Book of Malachi, chapter 4:5-6. A broader purpose, he reveals, is to understand the world in a way that allows him to remain loyal to God's purpose - even when the going gets tough. Believing that knowledge is virtue and that true wisdom comes from God, Jeff skillfully influenced the movement to "separate the wheat from the chaff" within the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party. Paraphrasing Socrates in an op-ed piece lambasting the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party and corporate-dominated non-competitive political districts, he writes: "You have forgotten again, my friends, that the law is not concerned to make any one class especially happy, but to ensure the welfare of the commonwealth as a whole." Jeff is currently a member of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party's Executive Committee. The second child, of seven, to attend college, Jeff Mixon holds a bachelors degree in psychology from Case Western Reserve University and a master's degree in education from Kent State University.
