Author Biography

Jerry W. Knudson, professor emeritus of journalism at Temple University, is a former newsman who earned his Ph.D. in history at the University of Virginia in 1962. Since then he has covered or witnessed almost every major Latin American event. He won the Gannett Foundation Freedom Forum award for his long-term (two years, five summers) coverage of the Pinochet dictatorship in Chile and is also a specialist on Bolivia. Knudson currently lives in Philadelphia.
