Rip Tide: A Weird Western - Paperback

by Michael Newton (Author)

Gideon Thorn returns in a deadly hunt along the Mississippi.

When a paddle steamer is torn apart by an unseen force on the Mississippi River-leaving only one survivor-newspaper reports of the massacre stir Gideon Thorn into action. Drawn to Natchez by the scent of blood and mystery, Thorn faces his most elusive quarry yet: an aquatic predator capable of destroying ships and devouring crews without a trace.

But the monster in the water isn't the only threat lurking in Mississippi.

Navigating the treacherous racial politics of the post-Reconstruction South, Thorn uncovers a town rotting from within. Freedmen fight for dignity in a white supremacist stronghold still bitter over losing the Civil War. As Thorn digs deeper, confronting both ancient terror and modern hatred, he finds himself walking a razor's edge between predator and prey, justice and vengeance.

Rip Tide is a pulse-pounding fusion of Southern Gothic horror and supernatural frontier adventure...where even the river runs red.
