Author Biography

Gilbert Keith Chesterton was born on May 29, 1874, in London. In 1895, he abandoned his studies in art and painting at university to pursue his passion: writing. He started his career publishing columns and short stories in local magazines, such as the Daily News and the London Illustrated News. He then began working at a publishing house. Chesterton's body of work includes more than 100 titles, ranging from essays and poems to biographies, travel books, literary criticism, and theological treatises. However, it was his detective novels that brought him international fame.
