North to Alaska: A Journey into the Wild is a chronicle of Caroline and Bernie Pollack's two-month trip to Canada and Alaska. Caroline, better known as "Sue" to nearly everyone, always enjoyed traveling and kept a detailed record of her and Bernie's daily experiences during their trip.

Originally from Greensburg, Pennsylvania, Sue worked for the State of Michigan, Department of Transportation. She had been manager of the state's thirteen Michigan Travel Information Welcome Centers. Throughout her career, she always promoted the benefits of travel and believed wholeheartedly that the journey was just as important as the destination.
