Mercedes-Benz 170V & 170S W136 - The Cars That Rebuilt the Brand
The Mercedes 170V W136 was more than just a car - it became a lifeline for Daimler-Benz. First introduced in 1936, it helped the company survive the 1930s, and after World War II, it was again the 170V that laid the foundation for Daimler-Benz's recovery. Building on that success, the 170S brought more comfort, prestige, and innovation, becoming a symbol of the brand's rebirth.

This fully revised 200-page guide (updated 2023) is the only English book dedicated exclusively to the 170V and 170S. It provides a comprehensive history, detailed technical insights, and over 150 recent color photos - including rare shots of the suspension and interior. A German edition is also available here on Amazon.

Inside you'll discover:
- Development and history of the pre-war 170V and post-war models (Va, Vb, Diesel)
- The pre-war military/police versions, the post-war 170Da OTP and the unique 170S Coupé
- All 170S versions: S, Sb, S-V, and diesel models
- Cabriolets and coachbuilt specials from leading firms
- Brochure excerpts and marketing materials from the period
- Connections to Auto Union/Audi in the early post-war years
- Chassis numbers and data card explained
- Technical specs and production data for all variants

Why this book?
Whether you're a collector, a restorer, or simply passionate about Mercedes-Benz history, this guide is an essential reference. It combines solid research with stunning photography and offers everything you need to understand why the 170V and 170S remain milestones in Daimler-Benz history.
