by Michael Janflone (Author)

Long before I started writing my memoir and began toying with fiction, I filled up journal after journal of poetry and prose. I also scored a couple of vintage typewriters, and we spent many a night together as well! More than anything, these mirror the emotions and thoughts inside my head as I sunk deeper and deeper into addiction. A lot of these deal with the struggles of relationships, which in the end reflect the difficulty I had with loving myself and not the actions of others. The beautiful thing about poetry though is these can mean whatever the reader gets from them. There is no blueprint for what they are supposed to convey. Read the lines, in between them, because in the end, there is no right and wrong.

Author Biography

Michael Janflone was born in Washington, PA. Let's see, important things about me since I can't write about myself in the third person, I tend to use curse words when I write, and speak, but I have developed a filter somewhat stronger than single-ply bargain dollar store toilet paper. I'm really not such a morbid guy, actually sarcasm is language 1a behind English. Factual things: I used to be a pharmacist. I spent a year in the Federal Prison system. I did a lot of heroin, opiates and am lucky to be alive. I am recovered, thanks to the grace of God and dead people who wrote a pretty impressive book a while back that is called Big even though it is indeed just regular size. Other stuff of no consequence- I can cook. Well. I rarely turn on the TV, but when I do, it is to watch some Pittsburgh sports team. I like to travel and hate the word wanderlust. Even typing that into the bio made me throw up a little bit in my mouth. I live in South Florida now, and it has finally become home, because I understand home is an inside thing, and I love the beach and ocean. It's humbling. So are all the people in my life today, and those who never left. Thank you all.
