by Jean-Michel Salanskis (Author)
This work explains why most people mistakenly believe that they know what Judaism and the Jewish experience are all about. The author broaches these subjects on the basis of their core foundation--Jewish law--and specifies how the latter gives rise to a collective experience characterised by its observance and its study. On this premise, the book provides a glimpse into the role and importance in our history of the Nazi Holocaust, while also shedding light on the nature and function of the State of Israel. Jean-Michel Salanskis gives readers a sense of what matters most from the Jewish perspective: memory, the tangible, and humanity.
