KENTUCKY DREAMING is the story of a fourteen-year-old girl who flees the Eastern Kentucky coal mine wars in 1932 and establishes a Bluegrass dynasty. Set against the backdrop of the Thoroughbred racing and breeding industry, KENTUCKY DREAMING spans nearly six decades of love and heartbreak, failure and triumph, tragedy and the fulfillment of a lifetime dream. Maripat Albright-a dynamic little redhead, literally goes from rags to riches as she struggles against insurmountable odds to save Albright Stud and mediate the growing conflict between her two sons. The first Kentucky Derby in 1875 and Secretariat wining the same race in 1973 are vividly described with famous names and race tracks in the U.S. and England interspersed throughout the book. The fictional characters are as diverse as the real racing figures who built the famous Bluegrass horse farms surrounding Lexington, Kentucky. From beginning to end, KENTUCKY DREAMING will grip your imagination and make you a part of an unforgettable story.
