Every year over two million animals on Africa's Serengeti Plain are forced to embark on the Great Migration, a desperate, real-life, danger-fraught, 500 mile struggle for survival. And in the first, award-winning adventure of the Jaspa's Journey series for strong middle grade readers, Jaspa must join them, in order to fulfil a rite-of-passage called 'the Journey'. His task is made doubly difficult by the fact that he's a Giraffeses, a distant relative of the giraffe, who could comfortably sit in the palm of your hand. The Great Migration is a story of adventure and danger, friendship and secrets, excitement and emotion, humour and, above all, discovery.

Author Biography

Rich Meyrick is the fingertips behind everything associated with Jaspa's Journey. He was born in Wales in 1969 and developed a fascination in geography, history and the environment at an early age. His extended academic career included a PhD from the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom) and a post-doctorate at the University of Waterloo (Canada). In 2000, Rich took up a position as an environmental scientist in Weimar (Germany), at a research station of the renowned Senckenberg Institute. During his four years in Weimar, on a return visit to Waterloo, he was introduced to Sue. Rich and Sue got married and moved back to Canada at the beginning of 2004. Since then, when he and Sue aren't actually travelling with Jaspa, Rich spends his days writing books and blogs about Jaspa's adventures. It's a Journey he hopes will continue for many years to come.
