Reluctantly, Xander returns to his hometown of Waterton, Iowa for an emergency house-sitting job. His parents have unwittingly spoiled what was meant to be a relaxing week off in Chicago-one last hurrah before graduation thrusts him into the workforce.

Deborah, Xander's best friend's mom, has also been left alone for the week. When Xander volunteers to help Deborah renovate her bedrooms, he truly intends to only alleviate his boredom.
