Author Biography

David Smithweck is a retired funeral director in Mobile and has researched local history for over 50 years. David has been very active in historical projects such as the search for CSS Huntsville & CSS Tuscaloosa ironclads, the Fort Powell Project, and many archaeological expeditions along the Alabama Gulf Coast. He has served four- three year terms on the History Museum Board, is the founder and president of the Alabama Gulf Coast Archaeological Society, Board of Directors of the Alabama Lighthouse Association, and has served on many other boards in the city of Mobile.
