Ghost Season - Paperback

by David A. Porter (Author)

Winner of the Voyages of Verses Book Award

The poems in Ghost Season were completed between 2000 and 2023. The book is a travelogue, a collection of poems written on a veranda in Nicosia, Cyprus; on a bench in Central Park; in the Vatican Museum, driving west through the Poconos...it's a personal atlas of the first quarter of the 21st century, one stitched with genuflection to the poetry of Auden, Cavafy, Cummings, Frost, Jack Gilbert and Sandburg. These are eulogies for love lost, hymns to a marriage, highway songs, odes to fatherhood, stories of cities and seas...poems from a ghost season.
