The Firs, established in 1921 as a modest annual gathering of friends and supporters of the China Inland Mission, grew by the 1950s into a multifaceted camp and conference ministry with three exceptional recreational properties near Bellingham, Washington. Author Biography

Katherine B. Jeffrey is a freelance writer and editor and an independent scholar. Her writing career began with publication of Work of Faith, Labor of Love (1980), a prequel to this updated and expanded history of The Firs. She is also the author of two books on the American Civil War and numerous articles on subjects that illuminate the character of Christian witness and of God's intervention in history.
