Different and Wonderful helps Black parents raise children with self-confidence and a strong sense of identity.

Renowned psychologists Darlene Powell Hopson and Derek S. Hopson explore the sometimes tough, sometimes unspoken questions that face the Black middle-class today, particularly parents. Thanks to Different and Wonderful, Black parents can now prepare their children for the race consciousness that still pervades American society, and at the same time, inspire them with positive values, productive lifestyles, and all-important self-respect. Using provocative quizzes, their private practice, and their own experience as parents, the Hopsons take you through each stage of your children's lives, providing the tools you'll need to raise them well--without sacrificing family values or ethnic pride. But perhaps the most important message to recognize in this comprehensive guide is the fact that Black culture is different--and life-affirmingly wonderful.
