Composed throughout four decades, Julio Ram?n Ribeyro's short fiction, which the author himself entitled The Mute's Word, displays a series of registers that covers the spheres of fantasy, society, philosophy, and introspective memory to evoke his European youth and his childhood in Miraflores, in his native Lima. Though many of his characters are victims of disillusionment or failure, one of the markers of his imaginary, the truth is his short stories transcend the topic of defeat and recreate the complex wealth of human experience.

Julio Ram?n Ribeyro Z??iga fue un escritor peruano, considerado uno de los mejores cuentistas de la literatura latinoamericana. Es una figura destacada de la Generaci?n del 50 de su pa?s, a la que tambi?n pertenecen narradores como Mario Vargas Llosa, Enrique Congrains Martin y Carlos Eduardo Zavaleta.
