Beyond Her - Paperback

by Ankit Chandak (Author)

Four affluent boys planned an 18th birthday celebration for one of them, which involved skipping school, booking a resort, indulging in intoxicating substances, and inviting a girl to mark their transition into adulthood. The next morning, the girl's raped corpse is found by the riverside, with DNA evidence linking the boys to her death. The case, involving a prestigious school, renowned families, and top lawyers, sparks a high-profile investigation that sends shockwaves through the tranquil valley. The police department comes under tremendous pressure as the tragic event outrages the public, still reeling from a grueling case in Delhi just a year ago.

Assigned to the case are Samar, a seasoned detective, and Niraj, a meticulous cop burdened by his father's unsolved murder. Despite the damning evidence against them, the accused boys plead innocence, claiming they used protection. They further assert that the victim, a young woman from Northeast India, was a prostitute, while insisting that their absconding friend, Imad, never joined the trip. Tensions escalate as their classmates embark on a parallel investigation, unaware of the looming danger.

Will police be able to find other elusive suspects found in the DNA report?
Will Niraj's dark past raise questions about his credibility under adverse conditions?
What's the mystery surrounding the unfateful night?

The police investigation, the suspects' attempt to prove their innocence and the suspicious involvement of other school students and staff; all interlock throughout the novel.
