Anthony Barton lives in Canada by the sea. As he writes about Matthew John and Bulmer, mountains of ice float past his window. After sunset little brown bats appear, darting through the air and making peeping sounds. For the first few days, the young bat clings to its mother. She has only one baby, but her child grows up quickly, and may live for more than twenty years.
