Arsenic Anna - Paperback

by Allen Sircy (Author)

When Anna Marie Hahn stepped off the train in Cincinnati back in 1929, nobody saw a killer coming. To her neighbors, she was just a sweet German immigrant, a devoted mom, and a hardworking neighborhood nurse who went out of her way to look after lonely, elderly bachelors.

But Anna had a dark side that was costing her a fortune: a massive gambling problem at the horse tracks.

When her luck ran out, she found a foolproof way to cover her losses. She'd move into an old man's life, cook his meals, clean his house, and work her charm until he signed over his savings or changed his will. Then, almost like clockwork, that old man would come down with a sudden, agonizing stomach bug.

From the first suspicious inheritance to the massive courtroom showdown that shocked the nation, Arsenic Anna tells the gritty, unvarnished true story of a master manipulator who gambled with human lives-and became the first woman executed in Ohio's electric chair.
