Author Biography

Dr. Nusheen Ameenuddin is an Indian-American Muslim who has always seen herself as a writer, despite her day job for the past 20+ years as a practicing pediatrician who was the first hijab-wearing physician hired at her institution. A perpetual student, she completed an MPH before diving into medical school and years after the fact pursued an MPA at Harvard, which her colleague described as a mid-life crisis degree. She is passionate about health equity, media effects on children and cross cultural vaccine education. She has contributed to medical texts, a primer on diversity, a student anthology and more. "Are Cats Muslim?" is her first children's book, soon to be followed by a book on Dhul Hijjah inshaAllah. She hopes to share stories that resonate with readers of all ages to nurture a love of Islam through authentic, joyful Muslim representation.
