The Mississippi Territory was created in 1798 and shortly thereafter Adams County was created in 18 . It lies in the Southwestern corner of the state boarding Lousiana and Florida, and is refered to as the Natchez District. It is the parent county for: Amite, Franklin, and Wilkinson.
