Sandwiched between the essays, the author presents a condensed history of his life so the reader can better appreciate the conclusions he reaches. He ends by identifying key problems that he believes threaten humanity's future, offering options and assessing humanity's chances of solving them and surviving as a species.

Author Biography

J. Frank Sexton was born in 1952 in Southwestern Ontario, earned a Bachelor's degree in 1975 from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Master's degree from Carleton University a couple of years later. After university, he enjoyed a successful 32-year career as a civil servant, obtained a master's rating from the Chess Federation of Canada and became an accomplished photographer. After retiring from the federal public service, he took up writing as a passionate hobby.
