Going into the 1980 season, Steve Stone hoped just to get a spot in the Baltimore Orioles' starting rotation. Thanks to an injury at the end of March, Stone opened the season in the rotation. And then, the unthinkable happened. Stone won 14 straight decisions, was named the All-Star Game starter, retiring all nine National League batters that he faced.
