The story focuses on their teen years, when their parents' interest in having a third child touches off new anxieties. Christian, the more reserved of the two, narrates the main events of their complex--loving, conspiratorial, inevitably rivalrous--relationship. They are, at times, as unconstrained as any other teens, and the troubles they find lay bare the Wild family's startling yet relatable vulnerabilities, driving Christian himself almost to the breaking point. This story hits us with the force of revelation, showing what matters most in the unpredictable drama of life.

Author Biography

Rita Ciresi is author of the novels Bring Back My Body to Me, Blue Italian, Pink Slip, and Remind Me Again Why I Married You; the story collections Sometimes I Dream in Italian and Mother Rocket; and the flash fiction collections Female Education and Second Wife.
