But despite political and social reform, America as a land is filled with attitudes, assumptions that make it virtually impossible to believe that the nation is serious about its promise to care for its disenfranchised. She gained extensive experience during her tenure at New York Children Services. Dr. Hawkins currently lectures, conduct workshops, and writes on social policy issues, ethics and ethnicity and spirituality as they impact on social work policy. She also chairs the NASW Specialty Practice Section\/ Administration\/Supervision. She currently resides in north New Jersey.
