Since 2003 he has worked in the field of reservoir characterization of the Iranian hydrocarbon formations using cores and wireline logs data. He is the author of two books, \u003ci\u003eGeological Core Analysis: Application to Reservoir Characterization\u003c\/i\u003e and \u003ci\u003eCarbonate Reservoir Heterogeneity: Overcoming the Challenges\u003c\/i\u003e, published in 2018 and 2020, respectively. In 2018, Dr. Tavakoli was honored with the Young Geologist Award by the Iranian Academy of Sciences.
